Yoga and Mindfulness for children.
This is one of my favourite props to use in our children's yoga classes. They have also been making a regular appearance in our home practices after the little dude found them hidden away 😂
Here are 5 ways we like to use scarves at home or in class! 🧡 Follow the leader. In this game the leader has the 'red' (or any colour but only use the one of this colour) scarf and everyone else has any other colour. Like most games we play we start in a circle. The leader then moves through a couple of yoga poses, dance moves, expressions etc and everyone copies. Then everyone passes their scarves along to the right, changing who has the red scarf and therefore changing the leader. 💛 Breathe. Using a wall, see if you can use your breath to blow the scarf up the wall. A really good way to practice deep breaths, focus and breath control. 💚 Superheroes! Tuck it into your collar and you have a super Cape! Fun for superhero themes. 💙Eye cover during savasana. Ask the child/children to lay very still and you will lay a scarf over their eyes. Great for keeping them in savasana for longer. Then asking them how it changes the colour. What about 2 scarves, has the colour changed? 💜Balance play. Can you balance the scarf on your head in this pose (tree pose, mountain pose, dancer pose). How about on your knee? Play around with different poses and including the scarves in the poses. This can help with holding poses for longer and practicing focus. What are your favourite ways to use these scarves? There are endless possibilities and I would love to hear your games and practices using them!
