Private sessions for teens allows them a safe place to express, move and breathe. The teenage years can be a vulnerable time. It gives teenagers tools they can use in their everyday lives such as preparing for an exam or dealing with general day to day worries. Teenagers have so many stressors which can be difficult to deal with. They have peer pressure, school demands, social expectations, technology issues. Technology is a big part of a lot of teens lives now which can lead not only to mental stress, but also to 'text neck' and posture problems. Through Yoga we can help bring an awareness to the body. Teenagers can begin to learn how to quieten busy minds, demands and that inner critic. They can build confidence, learn ways to manage stress and anxiety and learn tools to help them focus. Yoga can be a playful time for self expression and imagination. We are moving deeper into poses and learning a bit about why certain poses are good for our bodies. We also work on noticing how certain poses feel in our body. This is a good practice of being in the moment, listening to ourselves, trusting our own intuitions and connecting to our own self worth.
